Spring may have past, But ‘Springtails’ are Still Present
In Alameda, Fremont, and surrounding cities, Springtails are occasional home invaders. Springtails populations can reach huge numbers, up to 50,000 per cubic foot. This tiny ( 1/16 to 1/8 inch in length ) wingless pest, light brown to cream in color, causes no damage to buildings and they cannot bite or sting humans. Springtails can jump up to 100 times their body length. To help control this pest you must eliminate any constant moisture source in your home. Also, you should let areas in the yard dry between waterings. Removing yard plant cuttings, i.e. grasses and leaves, from the yard will discourage these pests. If you find this pest to be uncontrollable, we can help, just give us a call, “WE KNOW BUGS” and how to deal with them…..EFFECTIVELY!
